Gbemi is a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State with HND (Accounting). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School.
Gbemi has spent over 20 years in the Insurance Industry in Nigeria, he started his working career with Hogg Robinson Nigeria (Insurance Brokers) and Medexia Limited (Subsidiary of Hogg Robinson Nigeria) where he worked as the Head of Finance and Administration. He then moved on to Leadway Assurance Company Limited and ADIC Insurance Company Limited as the Head of Financial Controls, from where he moved to Oceanic Insurance Group (subsidiary of Oceanic Bank Nigeria) where he worked as the Group Head of Internal Audit. He is presently in the employment of Old Mutual General Insurance Company Nigeria where he serves as the Head of Audit.
Gbemi has attended several courses both within and outside Nigeria, he has also audited locally and outside Nigeria .
